Topic:  World news Instructional Approach: Communicative Approach Material: Whiteboard, marker, Projector, Internet, computer Main Aim: Students will be able to deal, understand and recognize the language about world news.   Subsidiary Aim:   Reading comprehension: Identifying main ideas. Dealing and recognizing vocabulary related to world news. Content: Lexical content:  News ( video games) Function: Students will be able to use the language recognizing and identifying main ideas in a given context.  Functional Exponents:   “A man who tried everything to achieve his goals”                                          “A man who hacked the U.S defence system” Value: Respect Listening to the teacher and their classmates

Warmer:   The teacher greets the students and helps them to release stress and focus on English. He introduce the students a warm up activity in which they will have to give ideas about what is for them news in general and write them on the whiteboard, then they will have to search a definition for 5 words on this site http://www.lexipedia.com/english/news and create a mind map on https://bubbl.us/.   ( interaction – timing ) There will be a teacher – students interaction ( 15 minutes) Presentation The teacher introduces the lesson asking students what they learned last class. After that the teacher asks for some examples about news, about what is happening nowadays and makes questions that the students have to answer in order to check the progress about the topic.   ( interaction – timing ) Teacher  – students interaction ( 10 minutes)   Stage 1:   He introduce the students with a pre-reading activity about video games following this link http://quizlet.com/27079978/video-games-flash-cards/ the students will have to check for 8 words related to video games and then go to games in order to apply and activate vocabulary about it and be aware about their space knowledge.   Stage 2:     As a while reading activity the students will have to visit this link http://www.thisisoxfordshire.co.uk/archive/2013/09/17/10678817.Video_game_tipped_for_record_sales/, after that they have to read the first paragraph and look for 5 new words more, highlighting them and find them a definition on the same site used before http://www.lexipedia.com/english/, furthermore, they will have to identify and highlight  the main idea of the paragraph given. ( interaction – timing ) Teacher – students interaction (20 minutes)   Stage 3: As a post-reading activity the students will have to gather all the words searched before and add 5 new words more and create an online game like a soup letter and incorporate this new vocabulary seen in class in order to reinforce and understand the new language, regarding news and video games. To create this game they can visit this link as an advice in order to help them to create it http://flashcardstash.com/, for this link the students will have to create an account to use the site properly.   ( interaction – timing ) Teacher – students interaction (25 minutes) Assessment:   Finally teacher will choose some students in which they have to show their games in order to recognize which and how many words they have used in relationship to the topic. After that the students have to give their links to the teacher send it to the e-mail course in order to evaluate it. The main points to evaluate are vocabulary and the correct use of them.   ( interaction – timing ) There will be a teacher – students interaction (20 minutes)   Description of the school and class ·         School environment: The school has good access to transportation, due to the students have to walk only one block and they can appreciate the main road in which is constantly on move with busses and taxis. The surroundings of the school is characterized for being in poor conditions, which means a low sociocultural level, facing different realities that mainly affects kids physically and psychologically which can be observed daily at the school.   Classroom capacity:  The classroom is capacitated for 40 students which are very big for free movement of the teacher and students. Mobile devices: they exist and they are able for the whole school.

“Let’s travel using radio show podcasts”

Level: 6^th Grade

Project template: Let’s travel – good for 10 - 12 years old students

1. Summary: For this project this template can use it anyone with an Internet connection and some inexpensive audio equipment can produce a podcast and make it available online using stories and memories, broadcasting ICT and creative skills (imagining the future as well). We have different uses for podcasting such as; something they want to express: love for a certain TV show, knowledge about technology or just personality and humour. Some use podcasting as a way to draw attention to their other organizations.

2. First activity: Investigating and preparing resources on travelling it can be done in teams focusing on themes such as; knowing countries, cities or by choosing one country per group. For this it can be included the city’s background, photos of places of your locality. You can share it with others to in order to, know what really caught their attention during your project.

3. Exchange: At the moment the documents were shared examine it and respond to the work your partner school has sent. You may find similarities and differences in the project, or relate their work to a study of another aspect of their world regions such as climate or culture. As an advise try to use surveys or interviews.

4. Share: At the moment you have finished that email your answers, or shared it via  www.speaker.com , here on this web-site you are able to record yourself, have live shows, therefore you will be able have to more interaction with others such as; online discussions.

8. Aims and Outcomes: This project invites students to explore digital resources in order to share information with their peers. With the help of podcasts that is typically an audio file that one downloads and listens to. Where people, generally produce podcasts to share ideas, presentations, or music. Therefore, by using podcasting, students will be able to produce and create a radio show with the information that they have gathered, about travelers, trips, cities, countries, the weather and so on and so forth. Which therefore mean that they immediately think about their city’s development, architecture and building materials. So at the end the students share this information with their peers’ school.

• The ‘Let’s travel” project engages students in the following cross-curricular dimensions:
•  The students will be able to ask and give information appropriately accurately.
• The students will feel motivated expressing their ideas about their own context in relationship with the topic that is “Let’s travel”. Fostering partnership and group work.

• The students will develop communicative skills, measuring pronunciation, fluency and accuracy

 The “Let’s travel” project fits in well with key words of vocabulary related to travelling, developing a coherent dialogue, describing and analyzing the relationships between the characteristic features of periods and societies. This project also blends in with key words related to visual arts relating it to their own culture, traditions and experiences.
